Guidelines for Artwork Submittal

We are a Macintosh based shop but files created in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand on a PC compatible computer are acceptable.

We no longer accept QuarkXpress files. QuarkXpress is a wonderful tool for multi-page documents printed on paper, but is quite limiting for us in regards to seperating artwork for t-shirts.

We also do not accept files created in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel or Microsoft PowerPoint. We are not able to create separations from any files created with these programs.

We also do not support Adobe Pagemaker, Adobe InDesign or CorelDraw, as we do not have these programs.

Images created for the internet are generally unacceptable as image resolution is generally too low (72dpi) to correctly reproduce the image on a t-shirt.

Adobe Photoshop files must be at 300dpi at final print size. Color Adobe Photoshop files must be submitted in RGB mode. Files converted to CMYK do not allow us to accomodate for our inks. Adobe Photoshop files for black and white lineart should be submitted in the Bitmap mode at 600dpi. Please do not confuse the Bitmap mode with the file format .BMP as they are not the same thing.

To alleviate confusion all type should be created in Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand and converted to outlines. This is especially helpful if you are working on a PC compatible computer as we cannot use PC fonts on our computers.

When placing images created in Photoshop into Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand do not enlarge the placed image. Resizing the image changes it's resolution. Eventhough the original Photoshop file is 300dpi, if you enlarge it 300% in Illustrator the resolution becomes 100dpi.

All PANTONE colors must be specified. A color copy of the artwork is extremely helpful for matching purposes. A proof is required for all 4 color process and simulated process jobs.

Please consider the color of your selected garment when submitting artwork. For your own reference place your artwork on a background color of your selected garment color. Artwork is seperated differently for different color garments.

Please label your artwork wth your NAME, PLACEMENT (front, back, left chest, sleeve, etc) and COLORS.
